Jeni Lucas, MA
I recently completed my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Governors State University. After doing my internship at Turning Point, I am very happy to be able to continue my work here in private practice. I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Social Work & Human Services from Lewis University. I have over 25 years of experience working in mental health, including partial hospitalization programs, inpatient psychiatric programs, and an outpatient community mental health center.
I specialize in providing LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy but also work with individuals and couples for a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, chronic mental illness, relationship issues, stress, personal growth, and more. My clients find me to be calming, open, non-judgmental, and easy to build a strong relationship with quickly. It is my privilege to work with and get to know every individual who comes into my office. Counseling is an intimate and collaborative relationship and I respect my clients' willingness to allow me into some of the most private parts of their lives. Being a counselor isn't just what I do, it's part of who I am.
I am a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the ACA Divisions of Association
for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues in Counseling (ALGBTIC) and Association
for Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD).
